This is our magical garden reading corner. My lovely TA put so much work into decorating our classroom, and with a few final touches I think we have made something really special for our new pupils.
Find below the unit outline and powerpoint presentation for the first term Year 5 art curriculum. This follows the British curriculum.
This game works really well with older pupils. I tried it with Year 5 and 6's, however my Year 5's really struggled with the concept of a "comic strip" and a story line that develops. I think in future, I would use this as a starter activity for a longer lesson on comic strips and comic book characters with my Year 3-5's.
With my Year 6's, they worked extremely well, and created some very imaginative solutions to the cards they chose. I also gave them an opportunity to share their comics with the class; which they enjoyed. It can be done as a whole class activity or as an individual game. I have also used this lesson as a "holding lesson", and the children absolutely love it. Let me know how it work for you, and if you adapt it for your class room.
