I am so proud of my pupils for creating such unique and individual sculptures. Each bird has its own personality and this reflects the diversity and creativity of each child. This has been a great project, and I am so glad the result reflects all the hard work that was put in!
We chatted about his plans, did a little bit of refining and decided that it was ready to present for the next week.
He was a great teacher, he explained to the class why he wanted to teach them this topic (he is passionate about this style of drawing). He explained that the task was to draw a detailed imaginary city landscape, or if that sounded too scary, they could simply draw their fantasy home (colour me impressed- he had gone the extra mile to differentiate the lesson). We we watched a short video about an artist who is autistic and draws city skylines from memory. You could see the pupils were intrigued and excited to get started. Throughout the lesson he walked around, supported members of his class, and encouraged them to use their imaginations. This was such a successful lesson. I would highly encourage any teacher to give up their reigns for a lesson (or 2), and let your pupils really show you what they have to offer. What a humbling experience! |
